What you’ll do: 
The Senior Business Advisor is responsible for leading and supporting the design and implementation of ISO 20022 standards, ensuring that all technical and regulatory requirements are met across different business domains such as payments, securities, trade finance, and regulatory reporting. The advisor is also responsible for the end-to-end development, maintenance, and governance of reporting frameworks based on ISO 20022 financial messaging standards. This includes the design, technical drafting, updating, evaluating and registration of messaging schemas, implementation guidelines, business rules, and validation artefacts to support both regulatory and operational reporting. 
Ideally, you will be based in Wroclaw or Poznan. The successful candidate will be offered an internal, permanent contract and be fluent in English.


Requirements


  • Fluency in English at a minimum of C1, emphasising public speaking and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Good negotiation skills and decision-making in stressful situations (e.g. live evaluation of messages with SEG and agreeing on next steps)
  • Background in payments, security settlements and/or trade finance.
  • Strong experience with XML/XSD, data modelling, and financial messaging standards, especially ISO 20022 message structures, in a banking, payments, or financial services environment.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills, and rationalisation skills for decisions to be taken.
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting processes in the financial services or insurance domain.
  • Proficiency in documenting technical specifications and validation rules.
  • Experience in business process modelling and ability to analyse and precisely define business requirements.

Responsibilities


  • Lead current and future ISO 20022-related projects, including implementation and migration efforts.
  • Provide support to sales, professional services, and internal teams on ISO 20022 aspects, ensuring knowledge transfer across departments.
  • Guide internal and external stakeholders by offering technical input on the use and evolution of ISO 20022-based reporting formats.
  • Analyse client requirements and interpret ISO 20022 standards and best practices, ensuring alignment with financial messaging workflows.
  • Conduct requirements analysis and prepare supporting documentation, such as feasibility studies, cost-benefit analysis, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Design, validate, and maintain ISO 20022 message models and related artefacts, using formats such as XSD/XML, or JSON.
  • Support evaluation and registration effort of produced ISO 20022 base messages with ISO 20022 Registration Authority and relevant Standards Evaluation Groups (SEGs) or Sub-SEGs. 
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot messaging issues across environments, ensuring compliance with ISO 20022 standards, formats, and business rules.
  • Develop and maintain implementation guidelines, message usage specifications, business validation rules, and migration plans.
  • Use tools like SWIFT MyStandards Portal and Readiness Platform, XML validators (e.g. Altova XMLSpy), and message simulators for testing and validation purposes.
  • Lead and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including test case design, execution, and results analysis.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, IT architects, and regulators to align reporting requirements with technical deliverables.
  • Support change management and release cycles for schema updates and artefact versioning.
  • Stay up to date with ISO 20022 global developments, industry practices, and regulatory changes, contributing to international standardization efforts.
